LOUNGETEER E-NEWSLETTER / 23 June 2009

Hey kids,

The new website has been up for a few days now! You can go to http://loungeteer.com/ to check it out! It’s much much easier to use now.

So, our great and talented copy-editor (well, actually, just me) has done some checking, and there HAS been a fairly-successful magazine for & by home-scholars. It’s called ‘Kid’s Town’; it’s an online magazine that started in 1997.

It seems to have had several interesting issues, and then for some reason stopped, at Volume 6, with no warning or reasons given. The last update was on 6 March 2003. Eventually, the website went offline, the most recent cached record being 22 October 2006. You can go to http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.hwcn.org/~ab448/kidstown/ and Take a look at the archived pages. So now you know.

As always, you can contribute by going to http://loungeteer.com/write/ and filling out the form. Subscriptions or orders (we have a few of the first issue left) are available at http://loungeteer.com/about/one/

LOUNGETEER E-NEWSLETTER / 12 June 2009

--------------------------------------

I have a confession to make -

Throughout the production of the first issue of Loungeteer, I really didn't have a set system of dates or deadlines in which to have different parts of the magazine finished, and I had no idea about how much time it takes to complete certain aspects of production.

That's why the first issue was released so much later than planned.

However now I have set up deadlines, and so you should hopefully expect the next issue to be released on time. I won't bore you with the details, but the date that applies to you the most isJuly 31 - the deadline to have contributions submitted to have them in the next issue.

You can make your contributions by going online to http://loungeteer.com/handouts/ and filling out the form. Again, we accept inspiring, spiritually impacting, or educational articles by our demographic - you, and we'll also accept children’s' drawings, photography, illustration, jokes, recipes, and so on. So what are you waiting for? :)

Anyone who hasn't subscribed or ordered can do so now by printing and filling out the form athttp://loungeteer.com/handouts/ :D

Praise for Loungeteer Mag:

"This is so cool! My kids are downstairs fighting over who gets to read it next."

- Diane Laverty, PA

"What? You made a magazine?"

- A homeschooler, AR

"Wow, this is actually pretty good. There's a lot of stuff in here."

- My dad

"Hey, this is pretty interesting!"

- A librarian

Thanks for reading & have a wonderful day!

LOUNGETEER E-NEWSLETTER / 29 May 2009
-------------------------------------

Hey kids,

I'm happy to announce - the magazines are being shipped. I received the stapler, however..., my mom ordered the wrong staples. Luckily, we were able to find some generic staples, and they worked well.

The handouts page (http://loungeteer.com/handouts/) has been updated. There are new versions of the handouts PDFs to download.

You can now also contribute to the magazine very easily! Go to http://loungeteer.com/write/ and fill out the contact form with info about yourself and your creation. You can send up to five attachments of any kind. If you need more than five, you can use the form more than once (make sure you put in your name both times), or combine the files in a ZIP file.

The rest of the website is also in the process of being overhauled. You will soon (within the next few weeks) find it to be much more usable and useful.

Anyone who hasn't subscribed or ordered can do so now by printing and filling out the form at http://loungeteer.com/handouts/ :)

I will be accepting contributions for the next issue, if you have anything interesting to contribute, please do so! Because issue #1 (spring) was released so late, the 'summer' issue will be skipped, pushing issue #2 to fall. To compensate, the fall issue is being released slightly early. The deadline for the next issue is July 31.

Thanks for reading!

LOUNGETEER E-NEWSLETTER / 17 May 2009
-------------------------------------

Hey kids,

Sorry for waiting so long to send out an update; I'm going to try to send them more regularly from now on.

There were some delays at the printer. Mostly dealing with communication, however the first issue was printed over a week ago. We also had trouble with binding after that. I have an old heavy duty stapler, that I assumed works, however it's missing a piece and no one carries the correct staples for it. No stores had a good enough stapler, either, so we ordered a new one (with lots of staples) which should arrive tomorrow. We will be shipping the magazine right away.

Anyone who hasn't subscribed or ordered can do so now by printing and filling out the form at http://loungeteer.com/handouts/

If you would like to get a better idea of what Loungeteer is, or need a copy of our magazine to show at your homeschool group, please reply to this email (or contact me in another way) with your mailing address and I'll get a sample to you.

Thanks for reading!
